Is Edward Snowden a Double agent?

Reports about Edward Snowden keeps streaming in the world media day after day. It seems that Edward Snowden is seeking media attention even more than Julian Assange from WikiLeaks at his glorious days

Many facts related to Edward snowden’s biography as well as recent actions has led several intelligence organizations in the world doubt the fact the he is a whistle blower. As more and more details about Snowdens past are “revealed” it seems that his character is almost too perfect for the role of the freedom of information loving, anti private data intrusion whistle blower. In this article CIA-NEWS.COM will elaborate the main reasons the led intelligence professionals suspect that Snowden is a Double agent or even one of histories most extravagant cases of black psychological warfare (Black PSYOP) deception maneuver tailored by very sophisticated minds.

Double agent is an agent who’s operating for two different sides, opponents to each other or indifferent. In some cases a double agent was only acting as an agent for one intelligence organization and only later he was “doubled” to become a source of information to another party. In many cases “doubling” an agent is done without his knowledge as he is “fed up” with information that is partially false and meant to be perceived by the other site as truth. On the other hand, “Black PsyOP” is when an intelligence organization is publishing information that is partially meant to deceit the other party. When the spokesman revealing the data is considered indifferent or not connected to the source the operation would be considered “Gray PsyOP”. When the source, Snowden, is presented as hostile to the object of it’s reports it should be considered as “Black PsyOP”. Wikipedia defines this topic very clearly: ”Covert PSYOP is not a function of the U.S. military but instead is used in special operations due to their political sensitivity and need for higher level compartmentalization. Further, black PSYOP, to be credible, may need to disclose sensitive material, with the damage caused by information disclosure considered to be outweighed by the impact of successful deception. In order to achieve maximum results and to prevent compromise of overt PSYOP, overt and covert operations need to be kept separate. Personnel involved in one must not be engaged in the other

Here are the main reasons Snowden is “suspected” by parts of the intelligence world:

Pro digital privacy working in the CIA or NSA

It was reported over and over again that it was a known fact that Snowden was carrying with pride an EFF sticker on his laptop. Electronic frontier foundation is an organization following this principle “We defend your civil liberties in a digital world”. It is the alibi and it reeks of “too obvious” to some seasoned intelligence experts. The homeland security officials who are in charge of screening nominees for sensitive roles in intelligence agencies in the US have good knowledge of who’s active on these forums and foundations of that sort. They use both publicly available data as well as data Possessed by intelligence (either electronic of humint). It was reported that Snowden didn’t even hide the fact he supports the EFF. It is not reasonable that a person with such opinions on digital data liberty will be working for agencies that their brad and butter is getting , storing , decryption and analyzing huge amounts of personal information, vastly not related to terrorists of any kind but to regular citizens of the US and other nations. booz allen HR are also quite good at finding things about their candidates and it is unlikely they missed such major parts of his activity and personallity.

Damage by his reveals is not proportional to the publicity his act achieves

Comparing the data exposed by snowden to the one exposed by Bradley Manning through Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks shows that while Manning’s leaks contained information that caused real operational damage and threatened the lives of large number of combatants and agents, Snowdens information is more sensational in political terms but nothing that is not anticipated in the world of global espionage. Manning’s leaks exposed technical capabilities and operational procedures that were unknown and once disclosed caused tens of millions of dollars invested in this tools and tactics to go to waster. Snowden on the other hand revealed what was already assumed and expected by professionals in this field.  It seems that some of his leaks are basically citing CNN or NBC , “exposing shocking information” about how Israel and the US wrote together the source code of the Stuxnet virus.

Snowden is acting as a person with vast experience with the world of journalism

Snowden’s public facing is well structured and highly performed. The clarity of his messages, the well structured patterns causing the data to look more than it is and the way presented , day after day revealing a little more each time – this is not the work of a computer geek. Press and PR (Public relations) professionals analysed the campaign conducted by snowden and found it to be orchestrated with such brilliance that it is hard to believe that he learned the industry trick by himself in a month or so. Getting there took years of hard work for the top earning PR superstars in the US and requires many personal links to journalists, reporters and media owners. One of the tricks that could have easily been a guerrilla YouTube commercial gig was the flight he didn’t attend as he was the realization of “the man who was not there”. One of LA’s top PR professionals described him as “PR wizard”

The international reality show of “host the whistle blower”

It is uncommon for countries to host leakers and whistle blowers they did not operate in the first place. this fact is doubled and tripled when it comes to hosting public enemy number one of uncle sam. Even countries that publicly deny and sympathy to the US rarely cross the line of sticking the finger directly, poking the US in a way that is intolerable. Even in the days of Hugo Chavez, while he was swearing and cursing he didn’t really do any meaningful steps that he could have done to provoke the US in a serious matter. the game of who’s hosting Snowden is the fire that keeps on burning in the last two weeks keeping this story on top headlines. It is a good way to continue nurturing the character of the fearless fighter without actually revealing anything that is meaningless.

The question remaining is about what is the purpose of this operation. What are the data artifacts Snowden’s yet to expose that were worth conducting such large scale operation? The answer to this may only be speculated at this stage and might not be publicly known even in the future.

  • If you are citing parts of a paragraph from “The New-York Times” you should mention it and not publish it as if it was your original material.

  • Snowden is a hero and a patriot in my book. We live in an age where the civil liberties our forefathers fought so hard for are being eroded by the day. Freedom of Press, Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly are mere ghostly images of their original intent. We’ve woken up to an Orwellian Society of Fear where anyone is at the mercy of being labeled a terrorist for standing up for rights we took for granted just over a decade ago. Sure, this is all a well conceived propaganda campaign to smear the current Administration, just like the IRS/Teaparty and UP leaks were exploited just before this one

Check this… The GOP has been largely abandoned by the ‘younger’ voters, that is 20-30 somethings. Even polling of ‘Young Republicans’ showed that they favored Dems over GOPers

The goal of this campaign is to create a stir that will cause the idealistic youngsters to become disillusioned with politics and either not vote for Dems, or NOT VOTE AT ALL

It bears a strong similarity to the propaganda spread about Obama-care that lead to the creation of the Tea Party, and as such, the same people who created the Tea Party should receive scrutiny at this time

  • Manning is not a hero and a patriot in my book. We live in an age where the safe roads our forefathers fought so hard for are being eroded by the day. Safe streets are mere ghostly images of their original intent. We’ve woken up to an Orwellian Society of Fear where anyone is at the mercy of being labeled a terrorist for standing up for rights against drunk driving that we took for granted just over a decade ago.
